WHAT U.C. IS WHAT YOU GET is an event, a mini festival, that takes place in one large space: the Main Stage. The audience experiences the personal, powerful work of guest performers partly from the existing seating, and partly from alternative positions or while moving through the space.

Across three consecutive evenings per edition, a programme unfolds in which different live art performances transition seamlessly from one into the next. A continuous flow in which the space is gradually opened up and peeled back, forming a single, shared total experience.

The programme consists of work by artists from all disciplines, invited by united cowboys, who all identify with its guiding principles: “encouraging artistic risk” and “questioning theatrical conventions.”

WHAT U.C. IS WHAT YOU GET STIMULATES ALL THE SENSES
united cowboys “occupies” the space in and around the Main Stage of Natlab for three evenings per edition, presenting full evening programmes in which new regional work is shown alongside international work. The audience is invited to view these works from multiple perspectives and to get close to them. Programmes consist of dance, music, performance, video and visual art, presented in one continuous flow. A succession of new work that is both inviting and challenging. Featuring a new generation of makers, including winners of the BNG Award and the Jacques de Leeuw Prize, as well as winners and nominees of international film festivals.

Each programme introduces new elements. The palette and dynamics differ from night to night.

united cowboys
United Cowboys is an Eindhoven-based live art collective that plays a leading role on international stages for dance and performance. Under the artistic direction of Pauline Roelants and Maarten van der Put, they create a multifaceted landscape in which dance, performance, music and visual art merge into raw, physical experiences. In doing so, united cowboys occupies a unique position within the Dutch performing arts field and is regarded as a global platform for artistic cross-pollination.

Over more than thirty years of activity, the collective has realised around fifty productions, ranging from intimate, personal works, primarily solos, to monumental productions for mid-sized and large venues. Between 2021 and 2024, they created the productions Reminition Swanlake and The Nutcracker on commission from Staatstheater Kassel in Germany, in collaboration with Tanz_Kassel.
