A film can take you into an unfamiliar world or change the way you see something you thought you knew. At Natlab, film education begins with that sense of wonder.
Together, we explore how moving images work. How does a filmmaker make you care about a character? What can images tell us without words? And how can you use image and sound to tell your own story? By watching films, discussing them and experimenting, pupils and students discover how a filmmaker’s choices affect them. They learn to watch more thoughtfully and explore different perspectives.
Through film screenings, in-depth discussions and workshops, we bring film to life at Natlab and in the classroom. Together with educators, we find a programme that suits the group’s age, interests and learning goals.

Vision Film education
At Natlab, film education begins with a sense of wonder. Film takes you into other worlds and introduces you to new perspectives. By watching films together, discussing them and experimenting, we discover how filmmakers tell stories and how their choices affect us. Along the way, we develop visual literacy and media literacy. We learn to understand and use visual language, explore how images shape our view of the world, and make thoughtful choices about what we watch, create and share. In our screening rooms and in the classroom, there is room for curiosity, different ideas and your own story.

Filmhub Zuid
At Natlab, we believe every child should have the chance to discover film. Film sparks curiosity, opens up new perspectives and encourages us to tell our own stories. That’s why our commitment to film education extends beyond our own screens.
Natlab is the lead organisation for Filmhub Zuid, the hub for film and visual media education in Limburg, North Brabant and Zeeland. In this role, we help embed film education in schools. Filmhub Zuid offers schools and cultural partneres advice and inspiration: from watching a film in the classroom to visiting a cinema, and from experimenting with flipbooks and green screens to stepping behind the camera. This way, pupils learn not only to experience moving images, but also to understand and create them.
