SILENT FILM

Silent cinema, live music.

Grand gestures, unforgettable faces and images that tell a story without a word. With Silent Film, we explore the early days of cinema. Together with the Nederlands Silent Film Festival, Natlab brings a film from the silent era to the big screen every two months, always with live musical accompaniment.

From slapstick and adventure to unsettling horror, discover just how inventive, funny and daring early cinema could be. Musicians perform live in the auditorium, bringing their own rhythm, tension and atmosphere to the images. Each screening becomes a unique encounter between film and music, experienced together in the moment.

Whether you already love the classics or have never seen a silent film before, settle in and discover cinema that has been firing imaginations for a century.

NETHERLANDS SILENT FILM FESTIVAL

The Nederlands Silent Film Festival (NSFF) shows just how alive silent cinema can be. Based in Eindhoven, the organisation works to make films from the silent era accessible to a wide audience. From celebrated classics to rediscovered gems, live musical accompaniment brings these films to life on the big screen.

Alongside its annual festival in Natlab, NSFF organises screenings, educational projects, workshops and talks throughout the year, with a keen eye for recent restorations, new discoveries and the interplay between film and music. Together with Natlab, NSFF presents Silent Film, a screening series held every two months.
