The fairy tale is over. The dragon has been defeated, the final page has been turned and everyone is supposed to live happily ever after. Yet a prince and his servant are still waiting. They were promised happiness, so where is it?
In a strange no man’s land, the two try to discover what a happy life is actually supposed to look like. Perhaps it will arrive as an unexpected guest at a party. Maybe it is hiding in a small bag between two sandwiches. Or perhaps the only way to find happiness is to stop looking for it.
The prince and his servant continue to wait, experiment and stumble. They refuse to give up hope, even when happiness ignores all their expectations. Slowly, they discover that a happy ending may look very different from the version found in fairy tales.
In Nog langer gelukkig, Eindhoven-based children’s theatre company Oortwolk combines slapstick, magic and absurdity. A performance about expectations, hope and the unexpected value of friendship. For everyone who likes to believe in fairy tales, while knowing perfectly well that they do not exist.
