Paris, early 20th century. When the impoverished street artist Suzanne is mistaken for a spiritual medium by the desperate painter Antoine Balestro, she decides to play along with his story. Since the death of his wife Irène, Antoine has lost both himself and his inspiration, and clings to the idea that Suzanne can put him in touch with her.
