In Ze zei je dat echt? actors Gürkan Küçüksentürk and Huub Smit delve with humor and sharp wit into the wonderful world of communication and everything that can go wrong. In recognizable scenes, two men meet again and again in situations full of misunderstandings, minor clashes and unspoken assumptions. Sometimes they are friends, sometimes colleagues, sometimes complete strangers. But always they touch each other, intended or not.
A sincere compliment that falls the wrong way. A joke that is taken completely differently. A silence that says more than a thousand words. Did you really say that? shows how vulnerable communication is and how quickly we judge based on what we think we hear.
With a playful mix of cabaret, theater and musical moments, the performance switches effortlessly from poignantly uncomfortable to painfully funny. From sharp observations to scenes in which everyone recognizes themselves.
At a time when we seem to be becoming more and more cautious with words, Gürkan and Huub seek out the very places where things grate. There where assumptions clash, misunderstandings arise and reality turns out to be just different than they thought.
