In the heart of Madrid, Chueca tells the colorful story of a neighborhood where freedom and diversity collide with political divisions. Drag queens, lesbian couples, and refugees fight together for their safe haven against a growing wave of intolerance.

In Madrid's Chueca neighborhood, lives intertwine to create a colorful story about diversity, human contradictions, and the fight against intolerance. Chueca is the internationally renowned neighborhood in the heart of Madrid, a haven for the LGBT community since the 1990s. Due to the changing political atmosphere and hateful rhetoric from politicians, the neighborhood has come under scrutiny from opponents in recent years.

The film paints a portrait of a unique group of local residents: from trans people and drag queens to young, married lesbians and refugees. Central to the film is Radio Chueca Libertaria, broadcast from the legendary Berkana Bookstore, where the neighborhood's decline and the precarious state of the global LGBT movement are discussed. In a series of powerful scenes, the characters frequently step into the shoes of their opponents and enemies. A politician proclaims a new, peaceful world order: without heterosexuals.
