Based on the memoirs of Marcelo Rubens Paiva, I’m Still Here tells the true story of the disappearance of his father, former congressman Rubens Paiva, during the Brazilian military dictatorship in the 1970s. The lives of Rubens Paiva’s wife Eunice (Fernanda Torres) and their five children change abruptly and forever after his disappearance.

Eunice is captured and pressured by the regime to betray her friends and family. When she is released 12 days later, she does everything she can to oppose the corrupt regime and fight for the rights of thousands of disappeared, innocent citizens and their families.

Director Walter Salles (Central Station, The Motorcycle Diaries, On the Road) returns to fiction filmmaking after a long hiatus and, with this powerful portrait, makes his first film in 16 years in his home country of Brazil, where the film became a box office hit. At the Oscars, I'm Still Here was awarded Best International Film, and actress Fernanda Torres won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in the Motion Picture - Drama category for her role.
