In a war-torn Rome, Floria Tosca and Mario Cavaradossi live for each other and for their art. But when Cavaradossi helps an escaped prisoner, the lovers gain a deadly enemy in the form of Baron Scarpia, the chief of police. Tosca is at the mercy of Scarpia’s sick desires and is forced into a deal: she must sleep with the man she hates in order to save the man she loves. Will she find a way out?

Zoom in

The cast features major stars, including soprano Anna Netrebko as Tosca, tenor Freddie De Tommaso as Cavaradossi, and bass-baritone Gerald Finley as Scarpia. For Jakub Hrůša, this marks his first production as the new music director of The Royal Opera. A contemporary, alternative Rome serves as the backdrop for Oliver Mears' captivating new production of Puccini's thriller, an experience you won’t want to miss.

During an encore you get to see the same performance. The only difference is that they are recorded and not live-streamed.
