The royal Ballet | De Notenkraker

Peter Wright, Charlotte Politi
Mon 21 Dec and Sun 27 Dec

The magician Herr Drosselmeyer must save his nephew. Hans-Peter has been turned into a Nutcracker and can only be freed if the Nutcracker defeats the Mouse King and finds a girl who loves and cares for him.

During an atmospheric Christmas party, young Clara meets the mysterious magician Drosselmeyer, who presents her with a nutcracker doll. When the guests have left and the house is asleep, Clara sneaks downstairs in search of the doll. But instead, she finds Drosselmeyer, who takes her on a journey to an enchanting world: fairytale landscapes filled with swirling snow and sparkling sweets, where toys come to life and the enchantment continues.

The piece directed by Peter Wright, a true family favorite, shines to the enchanting sounds of Tchaikovsky’s orchestral music, alongside the splendor of the historically inspired designs by Julia Trevelyan Oman.

During an encore you get to see the same performance. The only difference is that they are recorded and not live-streamed.
