The young philosopher Spinoza rebels against injustice. Defiantly, he provokes those in power, but his rebellion elicits fierce reactions from both the church and the city. His neighbor, Rembrandt van Rijn, warns him of the life-threatening consequences of his defiance, but Spinoza refuses to let fear control him.
