Les enfants vont bien

Nathan Ambrosioni
RELEASE Thu 13 Aug

Jeanne has deliberately chosen a life without children. Her carefully constructed existence is turned upside down when her estranged sister Suzanne suddenly appears on her doorstep with her two young children. The unexpected visit seems to be an attempt to repair their relationship, but the next morning Suzanne has disappeared. Without an explanation, and without the children. When the search for Suzanne leads nowhere, Jeanne is left to care for her nephew and niece. What begins as a temporary emergency forces Jeanne to reconsider her ideas about family, responsibility and the future she had mapped out for herself.

Les enfants vont bien is a moving and nuanced French family drama by Nathan Ambrosioni, who has emerged in recent years as a distinctive new voice in French cinema. The film had its world premiere in the Crystal Globe Competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, where it won both the Best Director Award and the FIPRESCI Prize for Best Film. Featuring outstanding performances by Camille Cottin and Monia Chokri, Les enfants vont bien tells a warm and deeply human story about family, responsibility and the unexpected turns life can take.
