I was a Stranger

Brandt Andersen
RELEASE Thu 5 Mar

A doctor, a soldier, a human trafficker, a father, and a captain. Each with their own story, each on their own journey. Their paths cross when they are forced to leave everything behind due to the Syrian civil war, in a desperate search for safety and a place where they can belong.

Set in four countries and inspired by true stories from the front lines of the refugee crisis, this poignant drama—starring Omar Sy, among others—shows the heartbreaking pain, constant danger, and fragile beauty of people who, despite everything, find the courage to start over, even when the world has nothing left to offer them.

The film won the Amnesty International Film Award at the 2024 Berlin International Film Festival and will be released in theaters on March 5, 2026.
