During protests in Paris, a young man is injured by police violence. Stéphanie (Léa Drucker Close, L'été dernier) works in the internal affairs department, investigating potential misconduct by the officers themselves. However, finding concrete evidence of unlawful police violence proves difficult. When Stéphanie discovers that the victim is from her own hometown, she can’t let the case go. There may be a witness—but what exactly did they see?
Dossier 137 is both a study of power and violence and a refreshing “whodunnit.” The film premiered in competition for the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. “A fuss-free and entirely gripping procedural drama” (Variety).
