Hundreds of Beavers

Mike Cheslik
RELEASE Thu 27 Aug

After his apple brandy business is completely destroyed, a drunken salesman is left penniless and homeless in a frozen wilderness. Struggling to survive, he gradually learns the art of fur trapping through trial and error. When he falls in love with the daughter of a fur trader, he is given a seemingly impossible task: catch hundreds of beavers and he may marry her. What begins as a simple hunt escalates into an increasingly absurd battle involving ingenious traps, madcap chases and an army of beavers determined to make his life as difficult as possible.

Hundreds of Beavers is an almost entirely dialogue-free slapstick comedy that blends classic silent cinema, cartoons and inventive DIY filmmaking. Since its world premiere at Fantastic Fest, the film has travelled to international genre festivals including Sitges, Fantasia and Yubari, where it became an audience favourite and won several awards. With its distinctive style and infectious ingenuity, Hundreds of Beavers is fast becoming the cult sensation of the year.
