When Helen unexpectedly loses her father, Alistair, her world collapses. Overwhelmed by grief, she brings a hawk into her home with the aim of training this fearless bird.

This attempt to keep the memories of her father—and their shared love of nature—alive provides Helen with a distraction from her grief, but also leads to misunderstanding from those around her. Yet a deep bond forms between Helen and the bird, allowing her to rediscover the beauty of the world around her.
