Des preuves d'amour

Alice Douard
RELEASE Thu 23 Jul

Céline is looking forward to the arrival of her first child, though she is not the one who is pregnant—her wife Nadia will give birth to their daughter in three months. But to be legally recognized as a mother, Céline must adopt her child and prove that she deserves a place in her daughter’s life. As part of the process, she is asked to collect fifteen statements confirming that she will be a good mother. Under the watchful eye of friends, family, and the law, she searches for her place as a parent.

Des preuves d’amour is a moving yet light and humorous portrait of queer parenthood and the obstacles that come with it. Based on director Alice Douard’s own experiences, the film compellingly tells the story from the perspective of the non-pregnant partner in the final stage of pregnancy.

The film had its world premiere at the Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival and was later screened at festivals including Film by the Sea and the Roze Filmdagen, where it won the Audience Award.
