COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY
Film makes social issues tangible and brings different perspectives together. At Natlab, students explore how filmmakers tell stories and how images shape their view of the world. They deepen their visual literacy and media literacy while making connections with their studies, personal experiences and future professional practice.
A cinema visit with your students
For €7 per student, you can book a private film screening for your class, year group or degree programme. Together, we choose a film that connects with a current issue or a particular subject area. From recent releases to classics, we’re happy to help you find a programme that offers fresh insights and encourages discussion.
Exploring the film further
An introduction or discussion after the screening gives students the opportunity to explore both a film’s content and how it was made. How do camerawork, editing and sound guide your attention? Which perspective does the filmmaker choose, and how does that affect your interpretation? For selected Dutch films, it may also be possible to meet the director or screenwriter, giving students the chance to speak directly with the filmmaker.
FILM FESTIVALS
We bring educational programmes from film festivals in Amsterdam closer to home, to the movie theater of Eindhoven.
IDFA
A selection of the most beautiful films of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, specially compiled for educational purposes. Students see documentaries that depict the perception of often young protagonists in a personal and creative way. Appropriate teaching material is available for each documentary, which provides further insight based on information about the social context, the filmmaker and the creation of the documentary.
