In the summer of 1990, when East German citizens are given only six days to exchange their Ostmarks for West German marks, childhood friends and lovers Maren, Robert, and Volker decide to steal a fortune in nearly worthless currency from an underground bunker. Together with family, friends, and neighbors, they devise a creative plan to quickly convert the money into valuable goods and outsmart the capitalists.

Director Natja Brunckhorst presents Zwei zu eins, a lighthearted East German comedy based on a true story. Featuring a German star-studded cast including Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall), Max Riemelt (Sense8), and Ronald Zehrfeld (Phoenix), the film is a tale of love and loyalty, money and justice. It captures a nostalgic longing for the old GDR, mixed with the cheerfully chaotic spirit of a world in transition. The film was already a major success in Germany, attracting over 500,000 viewers!
