Every morning, Sjef follows the same route through South Limburg. He picks up his regular passengers, who depend on his rattling minibus for their appointments as well as their fragile connection to the outside world. They give his days rhythm, connection, and meaning, just as he does for them.
When Sjef is fired with immediate effect and has to hand over his keys and bus, he picks up his passengers one last time. At the intersection where he normally turns right, he steps on the gas and drives straight ahead.
What follows is an unplanned, sometimes dangerous journey, during which his elderly and vulnerable passengers prove surprisingly resilient. Industrial landscapes slowly give way to sweeping vistas, while the group shrinks along the way. What starts as an impulsive decision grows into a journey that stirs something in everyone and gives Sjef the courage to start the rest of his life.
