Among suicides among young people, 44% have an autism diagnosis. Although thoughts of death occur relatively often in people with autism, not everyone wants to die; there is often suffering. It is important to make this discussable.
Anke wrote the book “I really want to die” based on the diaries of Cathelijn. Cathelijn’s story has also been recorded in a short film. This film will be shown during the themed afternoon.
During this afternoon, Liza, Dolinda and David will also share their stories about living with autism.
Autism occurs 3 to 4 times more often in Eindhoven and the surrounding area compared to the rest of the Netherlands. Companies and institutions such as Philips and Natlab play a major role in this higher frequency of occurrence.
That is why it is meaningful that, precisely at this location, we will engage in conversation about this topic together on June 12.
This presentation will be in Dutch and includes a beverage.
