NSFF | The Garden of Eden

Lewis Milestone
Sun 18 Jan 19:30

In a brand-new restoration by the San Francisco Film Preserve, The Garden of Eden is a charming comedy full of humour and romance, creatively filmed against beautiful backgrounds and sets. A worthy finale to the festival.

While Toni (Corinne Griffith) hopes to make it as an opera star with a singing audition in Budapest, she discovers to her great horror that she has been hired in an ordinary nightclub. She finds comfort with the kind wardrobe woman, Rosa (Louise Dresser), who takes her to the Hotel Eden in Monte Carlo. There Rosa reveals her true identity.

Written by Hans Kraly (who frequently collaborated with Ernst Lubitsch), shot by John Arnold (known for films such as Forbidden Paradise), and directed by Lewis Milestone, this is a film to savour and enjoy.
