Calcutta, India, 1948. Mother Superior Teresa anxiously awaits a letter from the Vatican that will finally grant her permission to found her own order. A calling she has received from God, but also a radical wish for a sister. However, the tireless and ambitious Teresa is undeterred and prepares everything for her possible departure. But when her intended successor entrusts her with a great secret, both Teresa’s mission and their friendship are put to the test.
