L'engloutie

RELEASE Thu 16 Apr

On a harsh winter night in 1899, Aimée arrives in a remote mountain village in the snow-covered French Alps. She is a young, progressive schoolteacher, but in this community isolated by snow and tradition, faith and legends prove to be just as powerful as letters and numbers. Undeterred by this reception, she is determined to use her knowledge to break through the village’s illiteracy and deeply rooted superstitions.

With each snowfall, Aimée’s commitment deepens, and at the same time, an intense, sensual restlessness stirs within her. When an avalanche sweeps away a young villager, reality is upended, and the fragile balance is shattered. What follows is a poetic, unsettling, and at times claustrophobic winter folk drama, where desire, fear, and superstition merge with the overwhelming power of nature.
