ARGO
Amid the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979, the CIA hatches a plan so absurd it could hardly work: using a fake film production as cover to smuggle six Americans out of the country.
With Argo, Ben Affleck delivered a political thriller that feels as tense as a spy film, while also rawly exposing the clash between power, fear, and diplomacy. The story is bizarre—yet based on true events.
An Oscar winner for Best Picture and still a gripping look at the world of illusion and reality, Hollywood and international politics.
Before the screening, you’ll get a film lecture by Martin Koolhoven on the film.

“Some blame it on the title (which is pretty terrible), others on the lack of big movie stars. Still others cite the fierce competition or the weak publicity campaign as reasons why the film failed at the box office. The fact is that years later The Shawshank Redemption, through television, video rentals and later DVDs, fought its way to the very top of the IMDB Top 250. Personally, I only ever saw the film on television, so I can’t wait to experience it on the big screen.”
