It is 1985, The Cure and Imagination are battling it out on the charts, and Kohl and Mitterand on the world stage. Nearly thirteen-year-old Vincent grows up in a suburb of Paris, where not only the global economy but also his family is in crisis. His father, Yves, has lost his job but does not dare to tell him. After years as a secretary, his mother, Sandrine, longs for a job with more of a challenge.
The tensions regularly escalate into fierce arguments. While Vincent tries to find his place within a family that is growing apart, he experiences his first major love and takes his first steps toward adulthood.
