Game Changers | La Grande Bellazza

Paolo Sorrentino
Mon 19 Jan 20:00

La Grande Bellezza is Paolo Sorrentino’s visual triumph and a modern reinvention of Italian cinema. In an intoxicating blend of decadence and melancholy, Jep Gambardella wanders through Rome, searching for meaning in a world of ostentation. With its unprecedented aesthetic and daring soundtrack, the film elevated the genre of the "city symphony" to new heights. On Monday, January 19th, Twan Arts will demonstrate why this film is an undisputed Game Changer.

La Grande Bellezza is a visually stunning masterpiece often considered a modern echo of Fellini's La Dolce Vita. The film won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film and is a melancholic ode to the city of Rome and the search for meaning.

We follow Jep Gambardella, a 65-year-old journalist and theater critic who wrote a single successful novel decades ago. He is the undisputed king of Roman nightlife and moves effortlessly through a world of decadent parties, intellectual high society, and absurd characters. However, after his 65th birthday and hearing news of a former childhood sweetheart, Jep begins to look at his empty existence with new eyes.
