In an absurdist universe where having children requires physical sacrifices and stress literally causes people to explode, a man learns that happiness is not always something that can be engineered or controlled.

What if having a child doesn’t come naturally? Piano tuner Samuel Dirk desperately wants a family. Problem: his wife has just exploded from stress. Is there anyone else willing to give their all for a desire to have a child?

A failed tribute to motherhood becomes an adult fairy tale: director Dan Geesin (Sputum) creates an idiosyncratic world in which you must sacrifice limbs to create a baby, and where explosive stress leads to bloody consequences. Samuel’s mother has her own ideas about his future and asks an old friend for help. Meanwhile, for Samuel himself it becomes a matter of persisting or exploding: in his search for his own desires, he must learn that happiness is not always something that can be made or controlled.
