A heartwarming Irish coming-of-age story featuring Christy, a boy on the threshold of adulthood. After his foster family kicks him out, he goes to live with his brother Shane and his young family in a working-class neighborhood in Cork, Ireland. The brothers haven't seen each other in a long time, and Shane sees this as a temporary situation. However, Christy begins to feel more and more at home and is accepted into a small, close-knit community. He also comes into contact with bad influences from his past, which Shane, with the help of the local community, wants to keep him away from. Together, they must reconcile their turbulent past and decide what the future might hold.

The feature film debut of Irish director Brendan Canty won the Grand Prix (Generation 14plus) International Jury Award at the 2025 Berlinale and depicts the authentic and raw life in a working-class neighborhood of Cork, Ireland, with convincing performances by the young lead actors and a powerfully portrayed sense of community. Canty previously made a short film of Christy (2019), in which Danny Power also played the lead role, and a number of other young actors from that version now also appear in this feature film. Canty directed the award-winning short film For You with Barry Keoghan, Hozier's music video Take Me To Church, and commercials for Adidas, among others.
The screenplay for Christy was written by Alan O'Gorman and is based on a story by Alan and Brendan Canty. Christy is inspired by the experiences of the young people involved, and a large part of the cast comes from the Kabin Studio in Cork, a non-profit community space that was created out of a love for hip hop and art.
