Andiamo a bere l'ultima

Francesco Sossai
RELEASE Thu 29 Oct

Since the 2008 financial crisis, the friends have been unable to pull off another lucrative scam. They are waiting for the return of their old associate Genio, who hid the loot from a job before fleeing to Argentina.

In the meantime, the men duck into a pub where they meet Giulio, a shy and somewhat lost architecture student. What begins as a ‘last drink’ quickly turns into a chaotic, boozy trip through the Venetian countryside—a journey during which the men in their fifties, with their unsolicited advice, hangovers, and wild memories, offer Giulio a fresh perspective on life and love.

Andiamo a bere l’ultima is a melancholic, witty, and affectionate ode to friendship, failure, and the art of getting lost one last time. With this tragicomic road movie, director Francesco Sossai captures a changing world with great warmth: from an older generation struggling to adapt in the post-crisis era to the ever-transforming landscape of his youth. The result is an inebriated odyssey demonstrating that sometimes you only truly move forward when you stray from the path. *Andiamo a bere l’ultima* premiered at Cannes and won eight David di Donatello Awards (Italy’s premier film awards), including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor.
