We are looking for a Supervisory Board member with a financial-economic profile and a member with a strategic/entrepreneurial profile.
About Natlab
Natlab is a vibrant cultural venue on Strijp-S in Eindhoven. We are a film and theatre house with a broad programme of cinema, performing arts, debate and education. In addition, Natlab is also a meeting place with a lively hospitality offering, where visitors come together for coffee, dinner or drinks. We believe in the power of imagination and wonder, as well as in the value of connection. Our mission: to be a place where culture and society inspire one another.
The Supervisory Board
The Supervisory Board (SB) safeguards the continuity, quality and societal relevance of Natlab. The SB oversees the policy and strategy of the managing director, acts as a sounding board and sparring partner, and contributes with knowledge, experience and networks. Members of the SB are visibly involved in the organisation and feel connected to our cultural and social role in the city and the region.
The SB currently consists of 5 members with different backgrounds and areas of expertise. Within the SB, an audit committee is active, among others. We operate in accordance with the Governance Code Culture.
What we are looking for in our members
- Have affinity with film, theatre, debate, education and hospitality as part of the cultural offering.
- Have a broad societal interest and a strong network in culture, education, business and/or government.
- Are independent, critical, but also connecting and collegial.
- Have experience with governance issues in profit or non-profit sectors (social or cultural), and an understanding of governance in the cultural sector.
- Bring specific expertise, for example in the areas of:
- Artistic and content expertise
- Finance, operations and risk management
- Marketing, communication and audience development
- Organisation and HR policy
- Cultural innovation, entrepreneurship and business models
- Municipal or regional cultural policy
- Preferably have a connection with Eindhoven and the surrounding area.
Additional profile Supervisory Board member – Financial-economic profile
This member of the Supervisory Board has in-depth financial and business-economic expertise and, from that role, makes a substantial contribution to the continuity and financial health of Natlab.
Desired profile
- Has financial-economic expertise, preferably a Registered Accountant (RA) or equivalent qualification.
- Has extensive experience with financial steering, budgets, annual accounts, risk management and internal control.
- Preferably has affinity with or experience in the cultural sector or a comparable non-profit environment.
- Is familiar with governance issues and supervision in organisations with multiple revenue streams (subsidies, hospitality, ticket sales, sponsorship).
Role within the SB
- Acts as a substantive sparring partner for the managing director on financial strategy, operations and risk management.
- Actively contributes to oversight of financial continuity, reserves, investments and operations.
- Has an active role within the audit committee and may act as its chair.
- Keeps an eye on the balance between societal ambition, artistic quality and financial feasibility

- Independent, analytical and critical, with a sense of proportion.
- Able to clearly interpret complex financial information for the entire SB.
- Connecting, with respect for Natlab’s cultural mission.
Additional profile Supervisory Board member – Strategic / entrepreneurial profile
This member brings a strong strategic perspective and entrepreneurial mindset to the Supervisory Board, with a focus on the long-term development and positioning of Natlab within Eindhoven and the Brainport region.
Desired profile
- Has extensive experience with strategy development, vision and organisational development.
- Is preferably an entrepreneurial professional with experience in business and innovation.
- Has a relevant and active network within the Brainport region (business, knowledge institutions).
- Has affinity with culture and societal impact, and sees the value of Natlab as both a cultural and social meeting place.
Role within the SB
- Contributes to the supervision and further development of Natlab’s long-term strategy.
- Acts as a sparring partner for the managing director on strategic choices, positioning, partnerships and new initiatives.
- Thinks along about opportunities for sustainable growth, cultural innovation and entrepreneurship, in line with Natlab’s mission.
- Connects Natlab, where relevant, with networks and partners in the region.
