De Wereld in Eindhoven + Q&A

Ellis Smulders
Mon 16 Nov 19:45

In De Wereld in Eindhoven, director Ellis Smulders follows three expat families as they build new lives in a city undergoing rapid internationalization. What does the growth of the high-tech industry mean for newcomers and for those who already call the city home? Smulders tracks these families over the course of several years as they seek to find their place in the city.

Following the screening, director Ellis Smulders and Theo Maassen—who provides the voice-over—will engage with the audience during a Q&A session.

"The growth of Brainport is visible everywhere. Yet, beyond the economic figures, another question arises: how do people live together in a city that is undergoing rapid and significant change? For internationals, starting a new life in Eindhoven involves much more than just a job or a home; it encompasses language, friendships, customs, and the question of when a new environment begins to feel like 'home.'

In De Wereld in Eindhoven, alongside the three families featured, experts, local businesses, and other stakeholders share their perspectives, placing these personal stories within a broader context.

Why are international employees so vital to the region? What does this rapid internationalization demand of Eindhoven and its residents? And is Eindhoven succeeding in transforming an international economy into an international society? *De Wereld in Eindhoven* explores what the region’s swift internationalization means for the people living right at the heart of it."
