The planned underground bus station at Eindhoven Central has moved one step closer to becoming reality. The municipality, ProRail, NS, the Province of North Brabant, and the national government have selected a preferred design option.

We will discuss this development — and the entire area on the north side of the station — on Monday, April 13, with Frank Werner (KCAP) and Jeroen van Schooten (Team V), moderated by Erna van Holland. The design will also be available to experience in 3D.

The selected preferred option consists of a terminal with five bus tunnels connecting to John F. Kennedylaan, Veldmaarschalk Montgomerylaan, the Vestdijktunnel, and the Boschdijktunnel. The fifth bus tunnel exits onto Fellenoord, between the intersections with Boschdijk and the Boschdijktunnel. Through these tunnels, buses can travel directly to the underground bus station without encountering intersections.

The bus station will have three island platforms with a total of 34 stops for all bus lines. During peak hours, approximately 200 buses per hour will be able to operate. More than €900 million has been allocated for the complete station plan through the Brainport and Beethoven Deal.

In addition to the bus station, a two-level bicycle parking facility will be built on Vestdijk. Together with the existing parking facility on the south side of the station, there will soon be space for approximately 13,000 bicycles. A new station hall will also be constructed, directly connected to the bus station.

During this meeting, Dutch will be spoken.
