The creators of Loving Vincent tell the story of the peasant girl Jagna in their new film The Peasants. Jagna tries to find her own path in 19th century Poland, despite the opposition of her envious fellow villagers.

When the free-spirited peasant girl Jagna is forced to marry the way older and rich farmer Boryna, she has to let go of her love for his son Antek. Her life turns more and more into a battle of her independence in a village filled with jealousy, gossip, feuds and a deeprooted patriarch.

The creators were again inspired by artworks for this new movie The Peasants. In this film adaptation of the "nobelprize equivalent for literature"-winning books Chlopi of Władysław Reymont, the handpainted images are based on works from the 19th and 20th century works of Polish artists like: Józef Chelmonski, Ferdynand Ruszczyc and Leon Wyczólkowski.
