In the psychological thriller The Surfer, Nicolas Cage plays a man who returns to his hometown on the Australian coast after living in the United States for many years. He hopes to buy back his childhood home and surf with his son. However, when they arrive at the beach, they are confronted with a new rule: "You don’t live here, you don’t surf here." This puts him at odds with a group of aggressive local surfers. What starts as an innocent situation quickly spirals out of control.
