When Adela attends the funeral of her dearest friend Elena, she feels barely connected to the others saying their goodbyes. The hushed voices and the cold fluorescent lighting do nothing to remind her of the joy Elena brought into the world. Emotionally drained, Adela goes in search of her car, only to find herself stepping onto a mysterious bus that takes her back in time to a weekend she once spent at a beach house with the lively and humorous Elena. The two shared a passionate hobby: reading detective novels, rode their bikes and danced the night away.
Ana Guevara and Leticia Jorge’s third film is a magical realist tribute to friendship, especially the bonds between women. A story of timeless sisterhood, in which grief is given space to transform into a celebration of deep connection. Agárrame fuerte (Don’t You Let Me Go) premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it won the Nora Ephron Award, but sadly never reached Dutch cinemas.
