With his outspoken buildings, but above all with his provocativestatements and ideas, for decades Carel Weeber was a striking figure in the Dutch architectural world.

On June 20, director Jord den Hollander will be a guest for a Q&A, which will be held in English. The film is spoken in Dutch, but with English subtitles.

Compiled from unique archive footage, the film ‘The World according to Weeber’ tells the story of an unconventional architect who was averse to fashionable trends and who was not afraid to take on the establishment. Weeber famously coined the term ‘nieuwe truttigheid’ to descrivethe small-scale architecture of the 1970s; with his initiative ‘Het Wilde Wonen’ he aimed his arrows at what he saw as the patronising architecture ofthe state and the interference of government in public housing. A captivatingportrait in rare film clips – like a journey through time – of an ‘un-Dutcharchitect’, who has made an exceptional contribution to architecture in the Netherlands.
