Three years ago, Julie lost not only her heart to a charismatic, manipulative older man, but also almost herself. She now looks back on their relationship and incorporates her experiences in the making of a film. With terrific play of Tilda Swinton and her real and performed daughter Honor.

Film maker Joanna Hogg used experiences from her own life for semi-autobiographical film The Souvenir, about film student Julie and her troubled, not to say self-destructive relationship with an older man. Mother Rosalie tried to warn her daughter, but she just just ignored all advice. Three years later, their story continues. Julie looks back on the relationship that made her feel so very miserable and processes her experiences into her graduation film that reviews the mysteries and complications of having an affair.
