The ways in which we look at our own and others' bodies is determined by our stories, political ideas, prejudices and history. In this dance duet, dancers Cherish Menzo and Camilo Mejía Cortés search for ways to free themselves from their imposed perceptions, supported by the ten-member Distorted Rap Choir.

Theater maker Amanda Dekker will talk after the show with Cherish Menzo and Camilo Mejía Cortés.

WIth her powerful dance language, Cherish Menzo creates a utopian free space in which ingrained stereotypes are being shattered, alienated and commented on, driven by imagination and fantasy. Menzo was inspired by posthumanism, in which the physical is transcended, and by afro futurism, which takes a look at science fiction, technology and fantasy from a black perspective in which the colonial and cultural domination that have been there for centuries play no part.

The ten-member Distorted Rap Choir, composed of local performers, accompanies Menzo and Cortés on the stage and guides them with rap anthems. This way, different group dynamics with new relationships and stories, connecting the local and universal within and to each other, are allowed to emerge in every single host city.
