During the consultation between potential adoptive parents for four year old Michael and his biological father John, there does not really seem to be an apparent reason for this adoption - but the 35 year old, single window cleaner has only a few months left to live. Based on a true story.

‘A gem that grabs you tenderly by the throat and doesn't let go’

John is a caring parent that loyally brings his son to school every morning, carefully cuts his hair, and reads him bed time stories before he goes to sleep. They are doing a fine job together, but when John appears to be severely ill and has only a few months left to live, he suddenly has to start thinking about a life for Michael without him. Mother is not in the picture and John himself has no family that can take care of his son, so he starts looking for an adoptive family. He thinks he knows what would be best for Michael,  but after having spoken to quite various couples - from parents that were actually hoping to adopt a baby to a couple that has almost already reserved a spot at a prestigious private school - it turns out that it's not that easy to find the perfect family.
