This Golden Palm winner is an inscrdible cinematographical trip about Alexia, a girl with some scars from her youth - or actually, she has a titanium plate in her head as a result of a car accident. And that's why she now feels more attracted to cars than to human beings.

After she breaks her skull in a car accident, a titanium plate is placed in Alexia's head to keep everything together and in place. Oddly, Alexia does later not feel fear or reluctance towards cars, but an extraordinary attraction. The metalwork in her body seems to get her aroused and excited, but also aggresssive. After having committed a series of violent crimes, she decides to run away and adopt the identity of a boy that has been missing for years, Adrien. His father takes her in lovingly, unimaginably happy to have found his lost son. In each other, they find a way to fulfill their desire for human connection.

"To me, this is a story of unconditional love and acceptance of the other. But it actually is impossible to pitch this film in a way that does it justice. TITANE is just TITANE. Go see it." - Julia Ducournau
