What did you always answer to the question "What do you want to be when you're a grownup?"? Princess, dragon conqueror, famous? Priest? That would be twenty year old Daniel's answer - a goal that appears to be even further out of reach than the former three, because he has a criminal record. But one day, a group of people in a village chapel mistake him for a young priest...

While on a work furlough, the young Daniel is mistaken for a priest in a village chapel. The local community seems to need him, so he decides to stay and fulfill his role as priest and help them with an unresolved trauma. But as he develops into a charismatic and unorthodox priest, the fear that the truth his criminal past will come out also grows.

This surprising film, with humor and a sharp edge on getting second chances, was based on a true story, was nominated for an Oscar and already won about 50 awards world wide.

"Often moving but also disquieting and even intermittently funny, this drama unfurls a spiritual parable that is uniquely Polish but accessible to all."
