An intimate insight into the life and work of one of the most innovative and influential fashion designers of our time, the Belgian Martin Margiela.

Margiela rebelled and surprised in the fashion world during twenty years and with 41 collections, without ever talking to the press or showing his face to an audience. His clothing was supposed to be at the center of attention, not his persona. Margiela loathed the idea of being considered a celebrity. But now, we finally get an insight into his life, work and childhood. His hands and voice will guide you through his years as a child and studies to the founding of his fashion house and eventually his suddenly leaving the world of fashion. A part of the mystery around his persona will always be kept unchanged, though, as we will still not ever see his face in this documentary.

Several important names from the fashion world get the floor to speak on Margiela in this film, like Jean-Paul Gaultier and Lidewij Edelkoort. Flamish band dEUS provided a thrilling soundtrack.
